Introducing Impact Funds on Geyser

Geyser is introducing Impact Funds, a new way to fund Bitcoin adoption at scale.

Impact Funds pool Bitcoin from sponsors and the community, then distribute it continuously to projects driving real-world adoption.

From Grants β†’ Impact Funds

Over the past years, Geyser Grants have already proven what’s possible:

  • 262,705,034 sats distributed (~$185K)

  • 119 projects funded

  • 4+ years supporting builders

This model worked. But it’s just the beginning.

Impact Funds take this to the next level by scaling capital, improving coordination, and creating continuous funding streams.

What Are Impact Funds?

Instead of one-off donations or grants, Impact Funds create ongoing funding streams.

  • Capital is pooled into a dedicated fund through company sponsors and individuals

  • Projects apply based on a specific theme or region

  • The Impact Fund team evaluates projects and creators, gives feedback and sends the funds

The goal is simple: bring together fragmented funding sources towards larger pools that can drive greater impact.

Why It Matters

There are thousands of projects on Geyser that are looking to have positive impact on the world. And sometimes peer to peer crowdfunding is not enough, and we need greater pooling of resources from sponsors and non profits.

This is where Impact Funds come in and can drive change.

Impact Funds do 2 things:

  • They bring visibility of these important initiatives to potential sponsors

  • They pool capital towards worthwile causes that would otherwise remain fragmented to accelerate positive impact.

  • They help create an ongoing stream of funding towards projects by setting yearly committments that creates a more reliable way to grow the Bitcoin ecosystem over time.

Live Impact Funds

Geyser already supports multiple Impact Funds, including:

  • Regional funds like Latin America

  • Culture initiatives

  • Education initiatives

  • Circular economies building local Bitcoin usage

Each fund targets a specific area of adoption.

How It Works for projects

Any project can simply apply to the Impact fund by going to the impact fund page and applying.

Funds are always open for application but the Impact Fund team will always be working on deploying funds to one Impact Fund at a time. This is clarified in the main Impact Fund page.

How it works for Sponsors

If you want to actively drive Bitcoin adoption, you can become a sponsor.

There are two ways to participate:

1. Explore and fund projects directly (free)
Get access to a dashboard where you can see projects applying for funding and deploy capital directly to the ones you want to support.

2. Join an Impact Fund
Commit capital for the year and get featured as a sponsor.

By joining an Impact Fund, you contribute to a shared pool that is:

  • Managed and evaluated by the Impact Fund team

  • Used to fund high-impact projects

  • Reported transparently with ongoing updates

  • Amplified through marketing exposure for your brand

  • Grown over time through sponsor and project outreach
